PVP in wow has changed a lot over the years. I first got into pvp after watching a mage named Voidim. At teh time i did not even know how he was spec'ed and i did not know about some of the things in the acrane tree like POM and things like that. I was truly a noob when i started watching these videos.
Voidim was the first mage i started watching his videos were cool becouse when i started looking for videos of mages pvping i only saw undead mages and basicly thought "well that sucks every mage that dose good in pvp is undead and i am a human :/"
Voidim was the first i saw that was good at pvp and a human mage.
I think the bigest change from the old days of pvp, from the 60's to the 70's for the most part mages were a class like a rouge. we could solo almost anything ... well not healers so much but that was never a fun fight on either end :P but still you had the tool to control the world and take on as many people as you could handle.
I remember the good old days of controling 3 or even 5 people while you fight em all. Mages were always very killable all you had to do was catch them. we took alot of dmg did not have alot of health, but we had control ... and ways of proventing damage.

Voidim's videos were at lvl 60 were he played with some of the best gear a pvp mage could have. he made use of bombs and things like that. witch was one of the things that always made me want to go to engineering. He played all the different specs and was good at them all. the one that suprised me the most was arcane frost, the damage he did as that spec was unreal i loved it i just did not know how to spec it >< lol

Vurtne was one of the best mages i ever saw. i ran into his videos at the start of BC. he used alot of enginearing and in funny ways while fighting people. before his videos i never new engineering had half the things it did. after seeing thes videos i knew i wanted to get engineering.. and it was not soon after that i rerolled to LB horde.
Voidim played into BC but stoped about halfway through S3 from what i remember and since then has not come back.
Vurtne Played till mist lvl66, He released a video that basicly showed he had quit. But came back under the name warbarbie on a new server. The first new news i saw of him was his Vurtne 5 Teaser. You have to understand that Vurtne has a following of almost every mage that exists.. so people studdied that video and started tryign to figure out were he was, what server, what was his name......... and how the hell is he shooting pyroblasts while he is cycloned.....???????
Vurtne was a master at this game he he found some amazing glitchs one of witch was know as Vurtne Steam Tonk Abuse. not going into detail becouse you cant do it any more it gave you 2 cast bars one hidden 1 active so you can cast 2 things at any time... the hidden cast bar could not be stoped even if you were CC'd or in an ice block. I never had more fun in my life then playign with this exploit ... i think i was the only person on the server to use it witch made it all that much better. You should really watch the video becouse he outlined everything you could do with the glitch... and it was amazing ... it lasted about 2 weeks after people begged him enough to make it public how to do it.
sadly the Vurtne 5 video was derailed by the RL and i dont think he ended up ever leveling to 80.
i dont think we will ever see the days of old pvp any more (not that thats a bad thing either) ... every class has been given so many ablities to do just about any thing that a 1v1 fight is no longer a balence between control, planing and damage.. its just pure do as much damage as you can before the green bar gose away.
